Introduction to Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese Food

Well-known for its fresh taste, easy to eat and well composed meals, Vietnamese, Thai and Japanesefood is the true and distinctive cuisines of Asia. Indeed, the taste can be defined with plenty of fresh ingredients, herbs, spices, and minimal use of oil. Delicate soups, stir-fried, well-seasoned grilled food servedwith rice or with noodle are the main stay of the South-East Asiadelicacies.
Famous beef noodle soup, has been introduced as a main course, is becoming very popular and well embraced in North America. A numerous amount of the Vietnamese dishes are also influenced by the Chinese and French due to its past colonial times. However, they have been skillfully transformed to a unique Vietnamese style with lighter, less fat and more vegetarian. Ingredients from Thai, India, southeast Asia, etc. such as curry, spices and sour are also found in few of the dishes.
Thai cuisine places emphasis on lightly prepared dishes with strong aromatic components. Thai cuisine is known for being spicy. Balance, detail and variety are important to Thai cooking. Thai food is known for its balance of the five fundamental taste senses in each dish or the overall meal: hot (spicy), sour, sweet, salty, and (optional) bitter.
Japanese cuisine offers a vast array of regional specialties, many of them originating from dishes prepared using traditional recipes with local ingredients. Kanto region foods taste very strong. For example the dashi-based broth for serving udon noodles is heavy on dark soy sauce, similar to soba broth. On the other hand Kansai region foods are lightly seasoned, with clear udon noodles made with light soy sauce. Some originally regional dishes such as okonomiyaki and Edo-style sushi have spread throughout Japan - Wikipedia
